Tuscaloosa County High School

Brief Description: School wide drug facts exhibit and information station using STM during all lunch shifts.

PRIDE of Tuscaloosa

Brief Description: High school based event and community-wide recognition with displays, newprint and media coverage.

Drug Free Coalition of Juneau

Brief Description: School events in collaboration with the local police department, put on interactive education (driving under the influence with goggles simulators etc.). These events engage students and increase the likelihood of their participation.

Oro Valley Optimist Club

Brief Description: Dispose-A-Med is an event, which invites local residents to empty their household of unused, unwanted medications. It is not limited to prescription items but includes over-the-counter medications such as vitamin pills, cough syrup, suppositories, inhalers, patches, etc. It is not limited to human medications. Many veterinary medications mirror the effect of human medications and therefore are dangerous. Some of them are exactly the same formula. The goals of the program are to reduce the availability of harmful medications in the household that toddlers and older children can consume either accidentally or as part of a drug related problem. In addition, the removal of these products is very beneficial to the environment by reducing groundwater pollution. Lastly many of the empty containers are recycled to the animal care agencies for vet meds.

Dysart Unified School District #89

Brief Description: We will involve our four high schools and one alternative school in student-driven activities through the week. Student groups such as SADD, Diversity, and Student Council will lead the programming, to include - informational myth buster paper tents on cafeteria tables all week; poster contests; filming of PSAs; banners around campus; etc.

Brief Description: We are staging a Run Drugs Out of Town Run at Chase Field on November 6th. The Run is for kids of all ages (so far 19 months to 80 years) and goes once around the warning track. Then you get to run the bases and meet some of the Arizona Diamondbacks and lots more. Everyone wins a medal that says "I'm a winner, I don't do drugs".

Pima Prevention Partnership

Brief Description: The week long event event will involve games and creative activities that will strive to shatter the myths of substance abuse. The youth of Sin Puertas will also be participating in, The National Drug IQ Challange.

Brief Description: We're focusing on the Coolidge Youth Coalition's Go Green-Don't Let Drugs Pollute Your Life quote campaign by doing a Green Ribbon Week at Coolidge High School. On November 3rd, the Coolidge High S.A.D.D. students will be handing out the Drugs- Shatter The Myths booklet. Brief Description: Prevention Specialist for the Sallisaw NOW Coalition visited five class rooms at Gans school in Gans, Ok Sequoyah County. We had the banner with Logo NDFW. Our facts were directed at the misuse of Alcohol by underage youth and how it effects the brain. After the presentation and fact and myth discussion students were asked to make their own posters in groups. Facts about alcohol were used on posters. We also visited the afterschool program at Brushy school (Boys and girls club) in Sallisaw. Posters were made at Brushy and placed in Hallway.

Brief Description: On November 5, 2011 Myra's Place will have a mad scientist present drug facts prior to having a free concert with free food and drink plus a moon bounce in our parking lot! We will also provide a power point presentaion in the building for the parents and adults. Our event will run from 1pm to 4pm and Holcomb Behavioral Heath Prevention Team will be on hand with free literature on substance use. We will also be collaborating with the Brdgeway Recovery School as well as Ken Willimas Recovery and the Lighthouse Network.

Brief Description: The Council Rock School District will participate in a drug facts awareness campaign involving three middle schools and two high schools. During morning announcements a fact chosen by the "Shatter the Myths" booklet will be delivered. Metropolitan Drug Commission

Brief Description: The Metropolitan Drug Commission (MDC) has partnered with Comcast Cable to air a series of five PSAs during National Drug Facts Week. Five teen volunteers will be filmed asking their most pressing drug and alcohol-related questions. MDC will then work with a local adult expert to get an on-camera response. The PSAs will run 30 seconds each, and a different PSA will run each day of the week on Comcast.

Bay Area Council on Drugs and Alcohol, in Collaboration with UTMB and CRCG's Substance Abuse Subcommittee (Community Resource Coordination Group) are working together to increase the opportunity for the ongoing sustainability of Drug Facts Week in this community. Each school will have adult advisors in addition to BACODA and UTMB staff. At each school we will adapt the 'event' for the best fit within the rules listed for events. Science and Management of Addictions

Brief Description: Hosting a youth and families trivia game using the National Drug IQ Challenge. Prizes will be given to the team that's scores the most points.

APhA-Generation Rx

Brief Description: The Generation Rx patient care project under the American Pharmacist Association is planning on campaigning the National Drug Facts Week from October 31st to November 4th in the CUB Lair. The College of Pharmacy organization will be collaborating with the ADCAPS program in efforts to reach out to the general WSU community and raise awareness about the misperceptions of prescription medications. We will be handing out free stress balls and passing out flyers containing medication facts through the week.

Wapato High School

Brief Description: Each Day a table will be set up with drug information. A question from the National Drug IQ Challenge will be read over the announcements in the morning and the first 4 students who come to the table with the correct answer will receive a prize. STM and other information will be available for the students as well as informational posters and displays.
